THE EVENT IS OVER…

But REVIVAL is still happening!

We Have Been Revived!!

Now What?

Or Scroll Down To View It!

Dear Southwest Family,

As I write this, our Revival has yet to take place. But, I know that when all has been said and done, God will have done some amazing things! Southwest, I’m already rejoicing!

There is a looming question though. And that is, now what? I’ve been involved in camp ministry for about 13 years now and it usually serves to revive me. There is something about getting away from the day to day grind and being out in God’s creation that energizes me. I notice when I get home from a week camp, I’m not so quick to grab my phone. I don’t run to turn the TV on. I find I’m a little more content with slowing down a bit. And perhaps the best benefit, I find myself craving to be alone with my Heavenly Father.

Unfortunately, being revived doesn’t last forever. Those old habits start to creep back into my life. My phone becomes an appendage. I can’t wait till the end of the day to sit down and occupy my mind with a show or a documentary. I’m back to running around 12 hours a day. And I notice my time alone with God seems rushed.

So, how do we stop the old habits from creeping in? How do we keep the revival going? I believe the answer is intentionality. We all know that a fire will eventually burn out. The wood will be consumed, and the fire will end. So,we keep throwing wood on the fire. The same can be said about the flame of revival. If we are not intentional infeeding that fire, it will eventually burn out. So, let’s keep throwing the proverbial wood on the fire!

On the back of this sheet is some great information I came across from George Bannister. I’m convinced if we put things he mentions into practice, revival will carry on in our individual lives and life church.

We have been revived! Let’s not waste it!

Keep up the good work Southwest,
Mike Hawkins

What do I need to do in order to fuel my renewed love for Christ and for His mission

GET SERIOUS ABOUT GOD'S WORD.

Acts 2:42 English Standard Version

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

  • Pay attention to what God has said. Your spirit has been awakened in revival, do not put it back to sleep!

  • Seek to make specific application to your life - this is where real life change begins.

  • Promote personal readiness in living out God's word.

  • Actively seek to walk in continual obedience to what God has shown you.

GROW IN FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER GROWING CHRISTIANS.

Acts 2:42 English Standard Version

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fel lowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

  • Seek to form relationships with other committed Christians. Christians who desire to grow in their commitment to Christ and his mission need to unite in close fellowship. This will help us keep the fires of our love for Christ alive and our passion for his mission intact.

  • Fellowship among believers was vital in the early church. Christians lived in a social environment that was hostile to their commitment. Family and friends many times turned their backs on these new believers. Ultimately, Christians faced persecution and even martyrdom for their faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Contemporary believers also need this type of fellowship. Christians today are also living in a social climate that is hostile to living out a commitment to Christ. Many times, those who would live out committed Christian lives find themselves ostracized by old friends and family.

  • The deepening of fellowship requires that we become more involved in each other's lives. A good description for this involvement is "living life together." Living life together begins with intentionally choosing to spend time together. Living life together includes being willing to share the concerns of life with each other.

GIVE YOURSELF TO AN ACTIVE AND SERIOUS PRAYER LIFE

Acts 2:42 English Standard Version

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

  • Be open and honest about your sin.

  • Be open and honest about your feelings.

  • Be open and honest about your fears.

  • Be open and honest about your concerns.

  • Be bold with God.

  • Pray without ceasing! It is possible to live life in conversation with the living God!

REVIVAL 2024

Saturday, September 7th and Sunday, September 8th, 2024

Join us for an old-fashioned tent revival out in our lawn! Our guest speaker will be Dean Jackson from the McElroy Road Church of Christ in Mansfield, Ohio.

The events of the past few years have taken us down a winding path. The fear, the doubt, the uncertainty. But what if we got off that winding path and got onto a path that leads to renewal? Join us for revival on September 7th and 8th at Southwest Church of Christ in Barberton.

>>> MEDITATION

Revival 2024 Memory Verse:

The memory verse for our revival this year comes from Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” This is the passage we want to have in our hearts and minds and on our lips. Let’s spend some time each day thinking about what this verse means, and let’s make this our daily prayer as we approach revival.

Praise:

Here are songs that will help us to get our hearts ready for revival:

Psalm 51 (Wisdom in the Secret Heart) – Shane and Shane

“Create In Me” – Rend Collective
